Delegates of the partner-city of Piacenza (Italy) took part in the International Week of Italian Cuisine in Togliatti

The International Week of Italian Cuisine is an annual event primed to celebrate Italys incredibly varied regional cuisine and food traditions with a wide array of events promoting culinary culture and flavours to millions of consumers worldwide.

The Week takes place under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it is organized by the entire network of Italian Embassies and Italian Cultural Institutes around the world in collaboration with all the Italian Trade Agencies, Italian Chambers of Commerce, the by the Italian Academy of Cuisine, as well as top Italian restaurants, chefs, wine distributors and producers, all of whom are true ambassadors of Italian gastronomic excellence abroad.

This year for the first time the International Week of Italian Cuisine came to Togliatti during the period of 21-27 November. Festival organizers from the Russian side were: the Volga Institute of Italian Culture / Society of Dante Alighieri Committee and the City Hall of Togliatti, form the Italian side: Association of Agritourism Emilia-Romagna (Piacenza, Italy) and the Honorary Consulate of Italy in the Samara region.

Italian delegates visited to Togliatti these dates to demonstrate the language, culture and cuisine of the region of Emilia-Romagna.

The delegation included both experienced professionals in Intalian cuisine and the specialists of culture and art:
Michele Maffini, the President of the Board of Agricultural Technicians and Specialists in the field of Agriculture Piacenza and Parma, a chef and a sommelier; Diletta Lizzini, the owner and chef of Agro-tourism Center "Bassanine" (Province of Piacenza); Andrea Mazzini, chef of Agro-tourism Center "Bassanine" (Province of Piacenza); Chiara Belloni, painter, professor of the Art Lyceum of Piacenza; and Federico Schiavi, director of the documentary TOGLIATTI (GRAD) (Rome, Italy).

All the days of the Festival the lovers of Italian cuisine could take part in many exciting gastronomic events and master classes at various venues City of Togliatti.

November 20, a premiere screening of the documentary "Tolyattigrad" dedicated to the construction of AVTOVAZ was organized. After a film there was a meeting with the Italian director Federico Schiavi. The film maker has answered questions of the guests of the festival.

Guests of the Festival got a lot of gastronomic and cultural experience and new emotions. Through the first week of high Italian cuisine in Togliatti, many residents of the city have tried their hand at cooking new dishes and learn how tasty, varied and spectacular can be traditional dishes of Italy. The second week of the Italian cuisine will be held in Togliatti in the next 2017.
