A meeting with the architect of the Italian Square project

In 2014 there was laid a stone on the site of the monument and square in honor of Palmiro Togliatti at the Volgar sports complex. In 2015, the city's open competition for the best project for the creation of a public garden and the Palmiro Togliatti Memorial sign was completed. Andrea Scopelliti, an architect from Naples, was the winner.

Spetember 17, the group of experts had a meeting at the City Hall to discuss the stages of project implementation. At the beginning of the meeting Andrea Scopelliti presented his project. Laconic and original both in design and in technical solutions. Italian square fully reflects its name. In the center is the round square of Italy, in its form remotely resembling ancient temples and stadiums. On the opposite side of the park is a light steel structure in the form of two rings, symbolizing the inextricable historical connection between Italy and Russia. In the park there is a place for a children's playground, skate park and exhibition area. The architect paid special attention to the change in the landscape, suggesting that it be made more interesting by forming alpine slides throughout the park and enriching the numerous plantations.
