Strategy of socio-economic development of Togliatti for the period up to 2030

The Technopark "Zhiguli valley" held a municipal session on the development of the strategy of socio-economic development of Togliatti for the period up to 2030. The event was the final stage in a series of similar sessions organized in the cities of the Samara region on behalf of the Head of the region Dmitry Azarov.

Representatives of the regional government, city administration, deputies of the state Duma, regional and city parliaments, as well as representatives of municipal institutions, education, health and business sectors took part in the work.

The Head of Togliatti Sergey Antashev told the audience about the results of the previous session which was held in early April and outlined the main stages of further development of the city growth strategy:

Most of the active citizens who took part in the April session are present at today's event and are ready to continue to work productively on the creation of the strategy of socio-economic development of Togliatti for the period up to 2030. Especially valuable is the participation of representatives of professional communities as experts who have a reasonable position on various aspects of the development of the territory, said the head of the city.

Developers from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) presented a preliminary version of the strategy which became the subject of lively discussion in five expert groups on the main areas of the city's development.

In the process, participants made adjustments to the preliminary version of the strategic plan. For example, in the environmental group experts questioned the correctness of some of the paragraphs that were not supported by real numbers and facts. In particular, a heated discussion provoked the issue of reducing the number of emissions and waste water by 30% by 2030. Ambiguous reaction was caused by the item on the ban on plastic products. Here, according to most experts of the environmental group, it is necessary to take the initiative in the State Duma to review the legislation, and not to try to influence entrepreneurs who produce plastic containers.

Deputy Head for Finance, Economy and Development Alexey Buzinniy commented on the results of the city's strategic session:

At this session we saw a lot of activity of citizens from different communities which cannot but rejoice. So far, the draft version of the document is perceived ambiguously and this is perfectly normal. We are now striving to obtain a document based not on mere arguments, but on real facts, with real proposals and achievable goals by the end of the year. We look forward to the constructive work of the entire urban community to get a good, lively and working Togliatti development project as a result of this symbiosis within the specified time frame.
