The monument "Waiting for a soldier" opened in Togliatti

June 22, at 04:00 AM in the morning the ceremony of opening the sculptural composition"Waiting for the Soldier" in honor of the worship of soldiers' wives, sisters and mothers took place in the Victory Park. The author of the monument isZurab Tsereteli, the People's Artist of the USSR, President of the Russian Academy of Arts. The head of Togliatti Sergey Antashev, The head of Togliatti, together with deputies, public, military-patriotic and youth organizations took part in the ceremony.

The participants in the ceremony laid flowers at the foot of the monument and honored with a minute of silence the memory of all who defend their homeland from Nazi invaders 79 years ago. On June 22, 1941, the Great Patriotic War has begun.
