International snowkite competitions and Marathon "Zhiguli Sea 2021"
9 March 2021
In the last week of February, the frozen water area of the Volga became the site of snowkite competitions for 135 strongest athletes-snowkiters from 27 regions of Russia and Ukraine.
From 24 to 28 February, all races were held and 31 sets of medals were given in the disciplines traditional for this sport: course race, marathon and freestyle.
In the main discipline of the competition - course-race - the success of recent years was repeated by the Ukrainian athlete Dmitry Yasnolobov, Sergey Skripin from Cheboksary was in second place and Muscovite Alexander Frider came third. Valeria Shpileva from Novosibirsk was the first among the female athletes.
- Togliatti is a place with ideal conditions for racing. There is always a good wind, excellent organization, decent housing and, importantly, it is convenient to get there. I believe that the Zhiguli Sea in Russia is definitely the best place for snowkiting competitions - said Dmitry Yasnolobov, winner of the course-cruising discipline.
